Owning a pet is not easy, especially for new furparents. It’s not all fun and games with them because they can get sick too. Pet owners to be observant. Be familiar with the common signs when they need to bring their pet to a veterinarian. Remember that animals can’t talk. You will not understand their pain or discomfort. Here are some situations in which you might want to call an emergency vet.

    Toxic Substance Ingestion

Dogs can accidentally eat something that’s not safe for them. It can be anything that you can find at home. It can be cleaning products, chocolates, or human medicine. Act quickly when this happens because it can put your pet’s life in danger. Call your vet and be ready to provide information about what happened.

Make sure that you find where the blood is coming from. If your pet is bleeding, whether it’s a wound or not, should be considered an emergency. While waiting for the vet make sure that you know what first aid you can do. If you are not sure where the bleeding is coming from, try inspecting the dog. If it’s a wound, put pressure on the cut.

    Difficulty Breathing

These can be a respiratory problems or an allergic reaction. They must be thoroughly checked by a veterinarian before it gets worse.

Do not be complacent because some injuries may be more severe than they look. A minor fall can lead to serious internal bleeding. That is why a veterinarian needs to assess them and confirm they are okay.

    Seizures

A pet having a seizure can be scary to deal with. It can happen for a couple of seconds or minutes and the vet needs to check your pet if this happens. It can be caused by a serious health problem which you might not be aware of. Seizures are serious and must not be taken lightly.

    Vomiting or Diarrhea

Throwing up or having diarrhea is usually nothing serious. It can lead to a bigger problem if they get dehydrated or develop complications. This can be a more serious health problem that you might not visibly see. Your pet needs a veterinarian’s attention as soon as possible. These are signs to bring them to a vet. They might need medication or could be hospitalized.
